Walker, Hulbert, Gray & Moore, LLP is the largest law firm in Houston County. Together, our eight lawyers have over 200 years of combined legal experience and practice in areas such as:
- Personal injury
- Corporate law
- Divorce & family law
- Real estate
- Wills & probate
- DUI & criminal defense
Today, we represent individuals, small businesses, large corporations, banking institutions, and municipal governments throughout Middle Georgia and beyond. Our firm looks vastly different than it did in 1965 when founding lawyer Larry Walker opened his first practice.
Where WHGM Began
Larry has lived in Perry, Georgia his whole life, aside from attending the University of Georgia for undergrad and law school. He graduated at 23 and started a solo law firm in a building with one bathroom, a small reception area, and one office.
The firm’s first real property file resulted in a certificate of title on a 90-by-35-foot lot minus 0.27 acres taken by the Georgia Department of Transportation in a right-of-way deed. The client paid $35 for Larry’s work!
Being a small firm in a small town, not every case resulted in payment in those days. One client asked Larry to sue corporate giant Graybar Electric, Inc., who manufactured Zenith products. Larry didn’t sue, but he never billed the client for the other work he did.
Forty years later, the firm handled the estates of these first two clients.
Although we’ve grown considerably, and our cases look different than they did in the past, we are proud of our firm’s beginnings.
Where WHGM Is Today
Today, WHGM is far from a solo law firm. In 1975, Larry’s brother David Walker joined the firm, and over the years, so did several graduates of Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law:
- David P. (“Skeet”) Hulbert, Jr.
- Michael G. Gray
- Kellye C. Moore
- John W. Hulbert
- Matthew C. Hulbert
- Ryan W. English
